Look Wisely (2025)
A smile is not the most beautiful curve, because when we look closer, we begin to see that a smile holds much more than its shape. A sincere smile becomes the most intricate of all expressions, concealing within it a multitude of emotions: joy and sorrow, love and anger, delight, frustration, and everything in between.
This quiet complexity moves Ratthanin. He captures everyday objects from his own home—objects imprinted with smiles that reside not on lips but in memory. These photographs are then juxtaposed with his smiling face, in an exploration of the question: How deeply should a smile be understood?
